Artificial Intelligence Lawyers

Pioneering law firm specialized in artificial intelligence law

Artificial intelligence (AI) is probably the technology that will have the greatest impact on the development of humanity in the coming years. Virtual assistants, robots, facial recognition systems, autonomous vehicles, drones, digital purchase prescription and evaluation algorithms, credit scoring systems, deepfakes…

Whatever the AI application you are working with or the AI system that affects you, Algoritmo Legal offers you the legal advice you need.

What is artificial intelligence?

Artificial intelligence or an artificial intelligence system can be defined as a software that is developed using one or more machine learning strategies (including supervised, unsupervised and deep learning), logic-based strategies and/or statistical techniques such as Bayesian estimation or search and optimization methods. According to a given set of human-defined objectives, this software is able to generate content, predictions, recommendations or decisions that can influence the environments it interacts with.

Most widespread applications of artificial intelligence

Artificial Intelligence Lawyers: autonomous cars

AI in the automotive sector

The development of AI applications in the automotive sector will enable increasingly intelligent driving. Some examples of AI implementation in this sector are automatic parking systems, choosing routes according to traffic and road conditions, identifying risky situations and even developing cars with an autonomous driving system. An autonomous car is able to mimic human driving and control capabilities, so it is able to perceive the environment around it and navigate accordingly.
Artificial Intelligence Lawyers: digital purchase

AI as a digital purchase prescriber

AI can be used as an element of prescription for the purchase and consumption of digital content. We are referring to recommendations of products to buy or services to hire, as well as content to consume based on the person’s preferences. These AI algorithms collect information on purchasing habits and preferences, and they also analyze tastes, interests or choices of audiovisual content, so that they recommend the consumption of this content or certain purchases based on the user`s preferences.
Artificial Intelligence Lawyers: drones

Drones

A drone is an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), more appropriately referred to as an RPA (Remotely Piloted Aircraft System). It refers to an aircraft flying unmanned, which performs its function remotely. A drone is therefore an unmanned, reusable vehicle, capable of autonomously maintaining a controlled and sustained level of flight, and powered by an electric or jet engine. AI is capable of controlling and piloting drones and there are now delivery, rescue and salvage or military drones.
Artificial Intelligence Lawyers: robotics

Robotics

One of the main applications of AI is robotics. Robotics is a branch of mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering and computer science that deals with the design, construction, operation and manufacture of robots. A robot is defined as a programmable electronic machine or device capable of manipulating objects and performing various operations. Currently, there are industrial robots (for factories), service robots (for smart homes) and social robots (which interact with a human being in the social dimension).
Artificial Intelligence Lawyers: deepfakes

Deepfakes

Deepfake consists of manipulated videos using AI techniques, which allow the editing of fake videos of apparently real people using unsupervised learning algorithms, known as AGNs (Antagonistic Generative Network) and existing videos or images. The end result is a very realistic but fictional video.
Artificial Intelligence Lawyers: chatbots

Virtual voice assistants and chatbots

AI enables the development of virtual voice assistants integrated into mobiles, televisions, and smart speakers. These assistants aim to make the user’s life easier, allowing them to search for information on the internet, receive news, control household appliances or obtain directions on how to get to a place. Conversational bots (chatbots) are software applications that simulate a conversation with a person by providing automatic responses.
Artificial Intelligence Lawyers: biometric identification

Biometric identification

Biometric identification refers to AI systems designed to identify natural people remotely by comparing their biometric data with data contained in a reference database. Biometric data sources relate to the physical, physiological or behavioral characteristics of a person.
Artificial Intelligence Lawyers: medical sector

AI in the medical sector

AI aims to develop machines and systems that can make an accurate diagnosis based on ailments, symptoms, and the results of medical and analytical tests. If necessary, these systems could also recommend treatments based on the patient’s profile, morphology and DNA. In addition, AI can also be used to monitor patients.

We only help companies that have a trustworthy AI policy implemented in the design of their products and services. If your business does not have such a policy and you want to develop one, we can help you.

Assess whether your artificial intelligence system is trustworthy

Fiabilito is the chatbot of Algoritmo Legal, whose mission is to verify, in a preliminary way, whether an artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm is trustworthy or not, following the guidelines established by the Ethics Guidelines for a Trustworthy AI of the European Commission of 2019, the Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council, laying down harmonized rules in the field of artificial intelligence, drafted by the European Commission and published on 21 April 2021, and the Recommendation on the Ethics of AI approved by UNESCO in 2021.

To this end, Fiabilito answers, without human intervention, several questions related to Explainability, auditability, traceability and algorithmic bias, among others.

For the time being, Fiabilito only evaluates artificial intelligence algorithms implemented in the financial sector (particularly by banks and saving banks), in their products and services offered to consumers. In this way, it is possible to get an idea of whether the AI algorithm used by the financial company being evaluated can be classified as trustworthy reliable or not.
